THREAD: Just saw this new B12 study - legit or marketing hype?Started by HolisticHolly682

Hey everyone, just came across this article summarizing a recent study (PMID: 12345678) about methylcobalamin B12 absorption vs cyanocobalamin. It claims methyl is way better for energy and muscle recovery, but I'm skeptical - the study was funded by a supplement company. What do you all think? Too biased to trust?

Ooh interesting find Holly! I actually switched to methyl B12 gummies last month after reading similar stuff. The bioavailability arguments seem solid based on what I've seen in other papers. That said, yeah funding is always a red flag. Did the article mention if it was peer-reviewed? Sometimes these press releases exaggerate.

Thanks for sharing. As someone who grabs B12 gummies between meetings, I care about efficacy but don't have time to deep-dive studies. Quick take: if it's just one company-funded study, I'd wait for more independent research. My rule - unless 3+ unrelated studies agree, assume it's at least partly marketing.

Good points both! Jack - it says it was published in a journal but I haven't checked impact factor. Adam - that's a practical approach. Maybe I'll try methyl for a month and see if I notice any difference in my workouts. Still wish there was less bias in these studies tho!

Totally feel you on the bias frustration. Fwiw, I've been logging my energy levels since switching and subjectively feel more consistent afternoon energy? Could be placebo but hey. If you try it Holly, report back! Adam - your 3-study rule is smart for us non-scientists.
