THREAD: Traveling with B12 gummies - do they melt? TSA rules?Started by OP

Hey everyone! I'm planning a big trip next month - flying cross-country, then a road trip, and some hiking. I take B12 gummy supplements daily and want to bring them along. Do these things melt in heat? What about TSA rules for carry-ons? Any storage tips for keeping them fresh during travel? Thanks!

Great question! As someone who's experimented with gummy recipes (I make my own fruit gummies sometimes), I can tell you they absolutely can melt. The gelatin/gummy base softens around 95°F. If you're hiking or leaving them in a hot car, they'll turn into a sticky mess. Pro tip: Keep them in the coolest part of your bag, maybe with an ice pack if you have one. For flights, I've never had TSA question my supplements - just keep them in original packaging to be safe.

First, love that you're taking B12 - so important for us vegans! I travel with my plant-based gummies all the time. TSA allows supplements in both carry-on and checked bags, but I recommend carry-on so they don't get baked in the cargo hold. Storage-wise, I use a small insulated lunch bag with a reusable ice pack. Also, check if your brand uses sustainable packaging - some have compostable pouches that travel better than bottles. Safe travels!

omg YES they melt! Learned this the hard way on a beach vacation last summer - my raspberry-flavored B12 gummies became one giant blob in my beach bag. Ruined the texture completely. Now I always: 1) Use a hard container (not the original soft bottle) 2) Never leave in direct sun 3) If flying, put in my personal item not overhead bin (it's cooler). The taste goes weird when they melt too - gets overly sweet and artificial. TSA has never stopped me, but I keep them visible in the bin just in case.
