THREAD: DIY Beauty Gummies Disaster - Help with Homemade Recipe Using Vitamin Powders!Started by OP

Hey everyone, I tried making my own beauty gummies at home with gelatin and some collagen + biotin powder I bought online. Followed a basic recipe but they came out super rubbery and tasted awful, like vitamins mixed with jello lol. Anyone have tips for getting the texture right or know how much powder to use per batch? Also, do I need to add anything to mask the taste? Thanks!

OP, the texture issue is likely due to the gelatin-to-liquid ratio or improper blooming. For science: bloom 2 tbsp gelatin in 1/2 cup cold juice (not water—it helps taste) for 10 mins, then dissolve over low heat. Add powders AFTER removing from heat to preserve potency—max 1 tsp total powder per cup liquid. Agar agar is more stable if you're vegan, but requires different ratios. Also, check your powder's solubility; some clump in gelatin. Try a small test batch first!

Skip the juice, it's just sugar carbs! Use keto-friendly sweeteners like stevia or erythritol dissolved in water or unsweetened almond milk. I make mine with MCT oil powder and collagen—key is to whisk powders into warm liquid slowly to avoid clumps. For texture, don't overheat the gelatin or it gets tough. And yeah, vitamin powders taste gross; add a few drops of lemon or peppermint extract to cover it up. #ketogummies

Omg I feel you, my first batch was a sticky mess! I use agar agar now—it's easier IMO. Pro tip: add the vitamin powders to a tiny bit of hot water first to make a slurry, then mix into the main batch. For taste, I swear by flavored liquid stevia drops (berry or citrus). Also, silicone molds are a game-changer for getting them out cleanly. Let us know if you try again!

Lol I just add my vitamin C powder to coffee and call it a day, but my sister makes these. She says if they're rubbery, you might have used too much gelatin or cooked it too long. Try reducing gelatin by 1/4 next time. For taste, maybe mix in some matcha or cocoa powder? Caffeine gummies, anyone? 😂 But seriously, start small—it's trial and error. Good luck!
