THREAD: DIY Beauty Gummies Disaster - Help with Homemade Recipe Using Vitamin Powders!Started by OP

Hey everyone, tried making my own beauty gummies at home with gelatin and some collagen/vitamin C powders I had. Followed a basic recipe but they came out super rubbery and tasted awful, like chemicals. Anyone have a foolproof recipe or tips for getting the texture right? Also, how do you mask the vitamin powder taste??

OP, ditch the gelatin! It's not paleo-friendly and can cause gut issues. I use grass-fed beef gelatin or agar agar for mine. Key tip: dissolve your vitamin powders in a tiny bit of warm water first before mixing into the gel base. For taste, I add a splash of lemon juice and stevia - masks most flavors. What ratios did you use?

Biohacker here. Rubbery texture means your gelatin bloom was off or you overheated it. Use a thermometer - don't go above 140°F. Also, are you using pure ascorbic acid powder? That stuff is bitter. Try a buffered vitamin C or liposomal version. I add a pinch of Himalayan salt to balance flavors. Track your batch variables!

lol yeah vitamin powders can taste like chalky sadness. My pro tip: use fruit juice instead of water for the liquid base! Pineapple or orange juice works great with collagen. Add a bit of honey or maple syrup (not too much tho). Also, try silicone molds - they make cuter gummies that somehow taste better? psychology maybe haha

OMG I love making these!! I do a mix of gelatin and agar for that perfect chew. For beauty gummies, I add biotin powder and a little aloe vera juice - so good for skin! If they taste chemical-y, you might be using too much powder. Start with half the dose and work up. And always add natural flavors like berry extract! So fun and empowering to make your own supplements 💖
