THREAD: My Beauty Gummies Changed Color & Got Hard - Still Safe to Eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, hoping for some advice! I bought these collagen beauty gummies about a month ago and just opened them today. They were supposed to be soft and pink, but now they're kinda hard, have white spots on them (looks like sugar maybe?), and some are stuck together. They smell fine, but the texture is off. Are they still safe to take? Don't wanna waste money but also don't wanna get sick!

omg i've totally had this happen with my homemade gummies! The white spots are probably sugar bloom - happens when moisture evaporates and sugar crystallizes on the surface. If they're just hard/sticky from humidity, they're usually safe but might taste weird. If they smell funky or have mold (fuzzy spots), toss them! I'd say if they're just sugar-bloomed, they're probs okay but might not work as well. Maybe store them with a silica packet next time?

lol sounds like they got exposed to heat or humidity. I travel with gummies all the time and this happens when I leave them in my car or a humid bathroom. They're likely safe if no mold, but the texture will be gross. Personally, I'd just buy new ones - not worth the risk if you're using them for beauty benefits since degraded supplements might not absorb properly. Check the expiration date too!

Weekend warrior here - had similar with my energy gummies after leaving them in my gym bag. They got all stuck together and hard. I ate them anyway and was fine, just chewy af. But if they changed COLOR significantly (like from pink to brown), that might mean oxidation and they could be less effective. The white spots are normal sugar bloom like Yara said. If they're not expired and smell okay, you're probably good, but maybe take them with food just in case?

As an enthusiast, I've researched this! Sugar bloom (white spots) and hardening are common with improper storage - too warm or humid. They're generally SAFE if no mold, but the active ingredients (like collagen) might degrade. If they're more than 6 months old or stored above 75°F, potency could drop. For beauty gummies, effectiveness matters! I'd contact the manufacturer for batch info. Meanwhile, store in cool, dry place. If they taste/smell odd, don't risk it - your health > cost!
