THREAD: Are gummy vitamins just glorified candy? Sugar content concernsStarted by PurePete846

Just saw my kid's gummy vitamins and checked the label - 3g of added sugar per serving! What happened to supplements being about health? This candy-fication is ridiculous. I remember when vitamins came in simple capsules or tablets without all this junk. Are we really prioritizing taste over purity now?

Totally agree Pete! As someone on keto, I avoid sugar like the plague. These gummies are sneaky - they market them as healthy but they're loaded with carbs and sugar alcohols that can kick you out of ketosis. Stick to capsule forms with clean ingredients lists. My multi comes in a veggie capsule with zero fillers.

Convenience has its place though. I travel a lot and gummies don't require water. But I get the concern - I only use them for specific supplements where the sugar content is minimal. For daily basics, capsules all the way. Less ingredients = less potential issues.

Liam - exactly! And Noah, I get the convenience argument, but at what cost? We're teaching kids that supplements should taste like candy. Next they'll want their medicine to taste like bubblegum too. There's something to be said for the discipline of taking a plain supplement.

Preach Pete! Also, many gummies use gelatin (animal-based) while capsules can be veggie-based. More options for different diets. The supplement industry is chasing profits with these candy-like products instead of focusing on what actually helps people.
