THREAD: My gummy vitamins look weird - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I've been taking these gummy multivitamins for a few months now, but I just opened the bottle and noticed something off. They're usually soft and brightly colored, but now they look kinda dull and some have white spots on them (sugar bloom maybe?). A few are also sticking together and feel harder than usual. Are these still safe to consume, or should I toss them? They're not expired yet, but I store them in my kitchen cabinet which can get warm sometimes. Thanks!

Toss them. Gummies are unnecessary. Get your nutrients from whole foods. Less waste, less worry.

I've had this happen with my energy gummies during long training cycles! The heat and humidity from my gear bag can mess with them. If they're not expired and don't smell funky, they're probably fine to eat—just might taste a bit off or be chewier. But if you're worried, better safe than sorry, especially with supplements. I'd say if they're just sticky/hard, okay; if moldy or weird smell, no way.

Oh, that sounds like sugar crystallization or maybe they dried out! In baking, sugar bloom happens when moisture changes—still edible but texture suffers. If they're not expired and you don't see mold, they're likely safe, just not as tasty. Try storing them with a silica gel packet next time to keep moisture out. Or hey, repurpose them—blend into a smoothie if you're unsure about eating plain!

As a runner, I rely on gummies for quick nutrients, but quality matters. If they've changed color/texture, it might mean degraded ingredients or storage issues. Check the expiration date closely. Personally, I'd avoid them—better to invest in a fresh batch to ensure you're getting the full benefit, especially if you're active. Maybe switch to a cooler storage spot too!
