THREAD: Weird side effect from my gummy vitamins - anyone else?Started by OP

Hey all, been taking these gummy multivitamins for about a month now. They're supposed to be the 'natural fruit flavor' kind. Lately I've noticed my pee is like... neon yellow? Not painful or anything, just super bright. Also I've been having these crazy vivid dreams every night - last night I dreamt I was a squirrel collecting acorns made of gummy bears. Has anyone else experienced weird but harmless stuff like this with gummy vitamins? Should I be concerned?

See, this is why I don't trust these supplement companies. They load these gummies with artificial colors and who-knows-what synthetic vitamins. That bright urine is probably just your body trying to flush out all the excess B vitamins they put in there. The dreams? Could be the B6 or something messing with your brain chemistry. I'd say stop taking them and just eat real food. You don't need gummy vitamins.

Oh wow, the vivid dreams sound kind of magical actually! I take a gummy vitamin with elderberry and zinc, and I haven't noticed anything like that, but I did have a phase where everything tasted slightly metallic for a week. It went away though. Maybe your body is just adjusting? Nature works in mysterious ways sometimes. I'd say listen to your body - if it feels wrong, maybe try a different brand with fewer additives. I can recommend one that uses natural colors from beetroot and turmeric!

Bright urine is totally normal with B vitamins, especially riboflavin (B2). I get it whenever I take a B-complex, even from whole food sources. The dreams thing is interesting though - never heard of that. Are you taking them at night? Maybe switch to morning. Personally, I think all these gummies are just candy with vitamins sprinkled in. If you're eating a proper paleo diet, you shouldn't need supplements at all. Just saying.

The bright urine is almost certainly from riboflavin (vitamin B2) - it's a known effect and completely harmless. Your body excretes what it doesn't need. As for the vivid dreams, there's some anecdotal evidence linking high doses of B6 to more vivid dreams, though the research isn't conclusive. Check the dosage on your bottle - if it's way above the RDA, that might explain it. Could also be placebo or coincidence! I'd recommend tracking when you take them and your dream intensity for a week. Science!
