THREAD: Weird side effect from my gummy vitamins - anyone else?Started by BioBob340

Hey all, been taking these gummy multivitamins for about 2 weeks now. They're the ones with B-complex and vitamin C. Nothing crazy, but I've noticed my pee is like... neon yellow? Like highlighter bright. It's not painful or anything, just looks wild. Is this normal? Should I be worried or is my body just processing the B vitamins? Anyone else get this?

LOL Bob, welcome to the club! Yeah that's totally normal with B vitamins - riboflavin (B2) specifically. My pee looks like a glow stick some mornings, especially if I take them on an empty stomach. I actually kinda like it, reminds me I'm getting my vitamins in. As long as you're not having pain or weird smells, you're good. I drink extra water with mine just to dilute it a bit.

Absolutely normal physiological response! The bright yellow urine is from riboflavin (vitamin B2) excretion - your body absorbs what it needs and excretes the excess through urine. It's actually a good sign that your supplements are high-quality and bioavailable! I'd recommend taking them with food to improve absorption and reduce the intensity. Have you noticed any other effects? Sometimes B vitamins can cause vivid dreams too - that's another harmless but interesting side effect!

Thanks guys! Glad to know I'm not turning into a radioactive mutant or something. Pat - good tip on the water, I'll try that. Ken - no vivid dreams yet, but I'll keep an eye out. The weird thing is it's only bright in the morning after I take them, by afternoon it's back to normal. Guess my body's just doing its thing!

Haha radioactive mutant! Yeah same here - morning pee is the brightest. If you really want to see something wild, try the gummies with beta-carotene (for vitamin A). Sometimes it can give your skin a slight orange tint if you take too much. Not dangerous, just makes you look like you've been hitting the carrot juice hard. But hey, at least we're getting our nutrients!
