My kid thinks collagen gummies are candy! Help!

So I bought a jar of collagen gummies for my skin and joints, and I left them on the kitchen counter. My 7-year-old just grabbed a handful thinking they were regular gummy bears! I caught him chewing on them and he said 'these taste weird, but I like the grape ones'. I'm freaking out a little - are these safe for kids? Anyone else have this happen?

Oh no! That's definitely a scare. Mine did the same thing with my CBD gummies once. As for collagen, I think a few won't hurt, but they're not meant for kids. You might want to keep them hidden or locked up. My rule now is to only take them when the kids are not around and store in a high cabinet. And to answer your question, texture is a big thing - my kid refuses to eat them because they're too chewy, go figure.

Haha, I can see how that happens! They do look like candy. But yeah, keep them out of reach. As a yoga instructor, I've seen people use collagen for joint health, but for kids, better to get nutrients from real food. Maybe try explaining to your little one that they're 'special vitamins for grown-ups' - that worked for my niece. And if he doesn't like the texture, maybe he'll leave them alone. lol

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of gummy supplements to begin with. They're basically candy with some stuff in them. My kids would eat them all if I let them. But I also question if collagen gummies do much anyway. I'd rather give my kids a good multivitamin and call it a day. But to each their own. Just be careful - those things can stain teeth too.

Thanks everyone for the tips! I'm going to move them to the top shelf and start taking them at night when he's in bed. I did some research and the collagen is not toxic, so that's a relief. And Zest, you're right about the teeth - I noticed a little residue. Maybe I'll switch to pills after this jar. Appreciate the advice!
