THREAD: My toddler thinks my collagen gummies are candy - help!Started by OP

Okay, so I started taking these collagen gummies for my skin and joints (getting old, lol). My 4-year-old daughter saw the bottle on the counter and thought they were candy. She grabbed a handful before I could stop her! She loved them, but now she keeps asking for 'mommy's special candy' every day. I'm trying to explain they're vitamins, but she doesn't get it. Anyone else deal with this? Should I just hide them better?

First rule of supplements: keep them away from kids! I'm paleo, so I get the collagen benefits - great for gut health too. But seriously, get a lockbox or something. My wife almost ate my beef liver capsules once thinking they were weird candy. Not the same texture issue, but same principle. Maybe try explaining they're 'grown-up medicine'? Works with my niece.

LOL, my husband did this with my sleep gummies! He ate like 5 before realizing they weren't gummy bears. There's actually smart pill bottles on Amazon with timers and child locks - some even sync to your phone. Could be a tech solution? Also, maybe store them with your other gadgets so kids don't associate the area with candy.

Ugh, texture is everything! I tried collagen gummies last month and had to stop - too chewy and left a weird film. Maybe your daughter likes them because they're actually decent? Most kids hate chalky vitamins. If you want her to lose interest, switch to a powder you mix into smoothies. Or find gummies with a less appealing flavor profile - the citrus ones I had were borderline bitter.

Thanks everyone! Kevin - good point about the lockbox. Finn - I'll check out those smart bottles, sounds handy. Sid - she's definitely a texture kid, loves anything gummy. Maybe I'll try the powder in her yogurt and see if that distracts her. Update: hid the gummies in my sock drawer for now. Fingers crossed!
