THREAD: Started collagen gummies for sleep, but wow - my skin is glowing! Anyone else?Started by OP

Hey everyone! So I've been dealing with some insomnia lately and read that collagen might help with sleep quality. Started taking these strawberry-flavored collagen gummies about 3 weeks ago (2 before bed). The sleep thing is... okay, maybe slightly better? But HOLY COW - my skin looks amazing! My complexion is clearer, less dry, and I've gotten 3 compliments this week alone. Has anyone else experienced unexpected benefits from collagen gummies? Wasn't even on my radar!

Fascinating! The collagen peptides in those gummies are hydrolyzed for better absorption - they're broken down into amino acids like glycine and proline. While glycine does have some research supporting sleep improvement (acts on neurotransmitters), the skin benefits make perfect biochemical sense. Collagen provides building blocks for your dermis, and the vitamin C in most formulas boosts synthesis. Your experience aligns with studies showing improved skin elasticity and hydration after 8-12 weeks. The sleep effects might be more subtle - have you tracked your REM cycles?

lol same thing happened to me! I got these collagen gummies that come in this cool smart bottle that tracks your dosage with an app (kinda gimmicky but fun). Was taking them for joint pain from too much gaming, but my girlfriend keeps saying my face looks 'refreshed' 😂 The app says I've taken 47 gummies so far. Maybe there's a correlation? What brand are you using OP? Mine has a blue light blocking claim too which seems sketchy but hey

Med student here - that's actually really common! In our dermatology module we learned about oral collagen supplementation. The research is promising for skin hydration and elasticity, though effects vary. Important to note: collagen is generally safe, but make sure your brand is third-party tested. Also, those skin benefits might be partly from better hydration if you're drinking more water with the gummies? Would be interesting to know if you've changed anything else in your routine. And AlphaAdam - glycine's effect on GABA receptors could explain mild sleep improvement!
