THREAD: Elderberry gummies on sale - too good to be true?Started by OP

Hey everyone! I was at Costco yesterday and saw their store-brand elderberry gummies on sale for like half the price of the name-brand ones I usually get. Has anyone tried these? Is the lower price just because it's generic, or does it mean they're using cheaper ingredients? Wondering if it's a steal or if I should stick with what I know.

OP, I'd be super cautious! A lot of store brands cut corners with gelatin (animal-based) or artificial colors. Check the label - if it says 'gelatin' or has red dye, it's def not vegan and probably lower quality. I've found some cheaper ones use more sugar too. Maybe a steal if you're not plant-based, but I'd rather pay more for ethical sourcing.

Interesting find! In my yoga practice, I emphasize mindful consumption. Price doesn't always equal quality, but intention matters. Cheaper options might have fillers or less elderberry extract per serving. I'd compare the supplement facts panel - look at the mg of elderberry and other ingredients. Sometimes sales are just good deals! But if your body is used to a certain brand, switching might affect your energy flow.

Minimalist perspective: fewer ingredients usually means better quality, regardless of price. I've bought Costco's version before - it's simpler than some fancy brands with 20 additives. If the sale price fits your budget and the ingredient list is clean (elderberry, pectin, maybe vitamin C), go for it. Don't overcomplicate it - a steal is a steal if it works for you.

Eco-check! Lower price might mean unsustainable farming or plastic-heavy packaging. I'd research the brand's sourcing - is the elderberry organic? Non-GMO? How's the packaging? Sometimes cheap = high environmental cost. I'd rather support a brand with transparent, eco-friendly practices even if it costs more. But if Costco's version has decent credentials, it could be worth it!
