Fiber gummies: candy or cure?
Just saw another ad for fiber gummies and I can't help but facepalm. We're turning supplements into candy, folks. 10g of sugar per serving? That's not a health product, that's a treat with a side of fiber. What happened to just eating an apple or some prunes? I'm all for convenience, but not at the cost of turning healthy habits into a sugar rush.
I get where you're coming from, Pete, but not all of us have time to chop up a salad or blend a smoothie every morning. I travel a lot for work, and fiber gummies are a lifesaver. I can pop one in my mouth on a plane or in a hotel room. Sure, they have some sugar, but isn't that better than being clogged up for a week? Plus, they taste good, so I actually remember to take them.
I'm on team 'gummies are a gateway to better health'! I started with fiber gummies because I hated the chalky powder. Now I'm eating more veggies and trying new supplements. Sometimes you need that sweet entry point, ya know? But I agree, 10g is a lot. I look for ones with less sugar or use them as a treat. Balance, people!
Hate to break it to you, but even 'sugar-free' gummies are usually loaded with artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols, which can mess with your gut. I'm keto, so I avoid them altogether. I get my fiber from chia seeds and flax meal. It's not hard, just a little prep. But I guess if you need a candy fix, a fiber gummy is a better choice than a Snickers? 😅
Oliver and Pat, I hear you. But maybe instead of gummies, we could advocate for better options? Like fiber capsules or powders with no sugar. I just think we're losing sight of what supplements are for. But hey, if it gets a person started, I guess I can't hate on it completely. Just read the labels, folks!
