THREAD: Fiber gummy disaster - my toddler thinks they're candy!Started by GlowGigi352

OMG you guys, I need to vent. So I started taking these fiber gummies to help with digestion (busy pro life = terrible eating habits). My 4-year-old found the bottle and thought they were candy. I caught him with THREE in his mouth! He was like 'yummy mommy candy!' and I had to do the whole 'these are mommy's special vitamins' talk. Now he keeps asking for 'mommy's gummies' every day. Anyone else deal with this? I'm worried he'll sneak them again when I'm on a work call.

Haha been there! Not with kids but my running buddy thought my electrolyte gummies were energy chews once. He ate like 5 before I noticed. Let's just say his digestive system was... optimized for the next 24 hours. ๐Ÿ˜‚ For kids though - maybe try putting them in a locked cabinet? I keep all my supplements in a tackle box with a combo lock. Not kid-proof but makes them think twice.

Interesting energy around this situation. My wife refuses to take fiber gummies because she says the texture is 'too gelatinous' and it messes with her meditation focus. She claims she can feel them dissolving in her stomach for hours. I tried telling her it's all in her mind, but she switched to powder instead. Maybe try a different brand with softer texture for your kid? Or mix powder into smoothies?

Thanks both! @EarthElias the locked box is smart - ordering one now. @BioBob47 my kid is the opposite, he LOVES the texture which is the problem! He thinks they're fancy gummy bears. The powder idea might work for me though. Do you notice any taste difference with powders vs gummies? I'm already struggling to get him to eat anything green...

Powders can be gritty if not mixed well. Pro tip: blend into a protein shake or oatmeal. But honestly, if he already likes the gummies, maybe use it as a teaching moment? Like 'these help mommy's tummy feel good' and give him a regular gummy bear as a treat after? Just keep them way out of reach. My niece went through a phase where she'd climb counters for candy - we had to get creative with hiding spots!
