THREAD: My toddler thinks GOLI gummies are candy - hilarious/terrifying story!Started by YogurtYuri124

Okay so I need to vent/share this before I collapse from exhaustion. My 4-year-old found my GOLI apple cider vinegar gummies yesterday and thought they were 'special mommy candy.' He ate SIX before I caught him! I was freaking out, called poison control (they said he'd be fine, just watch for tummy issues), and now he keeps asking for 'the sour candy' every hour. On the bright side, maybe his immune system will be bulletproof? Anyone else have kids/spouses who can't tell supplements from treats?

YogurtYuri124 - First, glad your kid is okay! ACV gummies are generally safe in moderate doses, but the sugar alcohols (like sorbitol) can cause gastrointestinal distress in high quantities. Might want to keep an eye out for bloating or diarrhea. Pro tip: store supplements in child-resistant containers (not just the original bottle) and maybe try explaining they're 'medicine candy'? My partner used to sneak my ashwagandha gummies until I labeled them clearly.

LOL my husband did the opposite! I bought GOLI for us to try after my weekend hikes, and he REFUSES to eat them because he says the texture is 'weirdly chewy but also slimy.' He literally gags. I'm like dude, it's just pectin and gelatin, but nope. Now I have a whole bottle to myself. Maybe your kid and my husband should trade places haha.

This is why I stick to pills. Gummies are just candy with a fancy label and a markup. Of course kids confuse them - they're designed to taste good! YogurtYuri124, you're lucky it was just ACV; some of these have mega-doses of vitamins that could actually be dangerous. Save your money and hide the candy-looking stuff better.

Update: Kiddo had a mild tummy ache but is fine. Thanks for the tips everyone! HealthHacker840 - ordering a lockbox now. SproutSid623 - my kid LOVES the texture, so maybe your husband is broken? VitalVince388 - I hear you, but I can't swallow pills without gagging, so gummies are my only option. Maybe I'll just tell him they're 'yucky adult candy' from now on.
