THREAD: Gift ideas: Gummy vitamins for aging parent OR fitness friend?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I need some advice! I want to buy a health pack or some specific gummy vitamins as a gift. I'm torn between getting something for my mom (she's 68, pretty healthy but I worry about her joints and memory) OR my buddy who's super into fitness (runs marathons, lifts weights, the whole deal). Anyone have recommendations for good brands or specific products? I'd prefer something that actually works, not just candy in disguise lol. Thanks!

Honestly, I'm skeptical about gummy vitamins in general. I tried some for my kids and they were basically sugar with a tiny bit of vitamins. For an aging parent, I'd look into liquid vitamins instead - they absorb better and you can control the dose. My mom takes a liquid collagen and it's helped her knees a lot. But if you're set on gummies, maybe check the sugar content first? Some have as much as a candy bar.

If you go the gummy route, PLEASE consider the environmental impact! Most come in plastic bottles that aren't recyclable in many areas. Look for brands that use glass jars or compostable packaging. Also, check if they use sustainable sourcing for ingredients like fish oil or vitamin D. For your fitness friend, there are some great plant-based gummies with BCAAs and turmeric - good for recovery without harming the planet.

I love this stuff! For your fitness friend, get him the smart gummies that sync with an app. There's a brand that tracks your vitamin intake and adjusts recommendations based on your workout data. It's like a fitness tracker for your nutrition! For your mom, there are gummies with sensors (tiny ones, don't worry) that monitor absorption rates. Tech makes everything better - even vitamins!

Caffeine gummies! Just kidding... sort of. For real though, if your friend is into fitness, look for gummies with natural energy boosters like green tea extract or B vitamins. I take some before my workouts instead of coffee sometimes. For your mom, maybe something with melatonin or calming herbs if she has trouble sleeping? But yeah, watch the sugar like Cathy said. Some brands use stevia instead.
