Liquid I.V. sponsors cycling tour - thoughts?
So I just saw this news about Liquid I.V. teaming up with People's League for the 2026 Tour. They're going to be the title sponsor for four events, focusing on hydration and content. As someone who's all about natural supplements, I'm curious what y'all think about a sports drink brand getting into cycling. Is it a good fit? Any concerns?
Honestly, I'm skeptical. Liquid I.V. is full of added sugar and artificial stuff. Why would athletes want that when they can get electrolytes from real food? I prefer my trusty gummies and a banana. This sponsorship just seems like a marketing ploy to make their product look healthy when it's not.
I get your point, PlantPat, but have you looked at the ingredients? Liquid I.V. has some clean options now - they use organic cane sugar and sea salt. But still, for my kids, I'd rather give them a homemade electrolyte drink with coconut water and a pinch of salt. Sponsorships like this just normalize these products in sports. I wish they'd promote more whole-food hydration solutions.
I've actually tried Liquid I.V. and it's pretty good! I'm all about convenience, and when I'm cycling long distances, it's easier to pop a packet in my water than to deal with gummies or make a drink. The extra sugar gives me a quick boost too. I think it's great that they're supporting cycling events - might bring more exposure to the sport. And they're not the only ones; everyone has some kind of supplement sponsor.
I don't see the big deal. At the end of the day, it's just a brand sponsoring an event. What matters is what works for you. I'm a minimalist myself - I just drink water and eat dates. But if Liquid I.V. gets more people hydrated and active, that's not bad. Just read the labels and make informed choices. I'll stick to my simple routine, but to each their own.
