THREAD: Looking for magnesium gummy recommendations - gift for aging parent or fitness friend?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy some magnesium gummies as a gift - either for my dad who's in his 70s (he's been having some sleep issues and occasional muscle cramps) OR for my friend who's super into fitness and always talking about recovery. I've seen 'health packs' with multiple supplements too. Any recommendations? I want something that actually works but also tastes decent since they're gummies. Thanks!

Hi OP! I'm so glad you're thinking holistically about this. For your dad, I'd recommend looking for magnesium glycinate gummies - they're gentle on the stomach and great for sleep support. Make sure they're organic and free from artificial colors! Nature's Way makes a good one, but check the sourcing. For your fitness friend, magnesium malate might be better for energy production. Always pair with intention - maybe include a calming tea blend with the gift? 🌿

Ellen's on point with the forms! I'd add that for aging parents, bioavailability is key. Look for gummies with magnesium citrate or bisglycinate - they absorb better. I've tried like 10 brands lol. For sleep: Calm gummies work wonders (the brand, not just the effect!). For fitness: Transparent Labs has a clean formula with no junk. Avoid anything with magnesium oxide - it's basically useless. And yeah, organic is best if you can find it!

Honestly, I'm skeptical about all these fancy gummies. If your dad has real issues, he should see a doctor, not eat candy. That said, if you insist: the basic Nature Made magnesium gummies are fine. They're affordable, available everywhere, and have been around forever. No need for all the 'holistic' hype. For your friend, just get a regular multivitamin. Fitness people overcomplicate everything. Keep it simple.

Thanks everyone! This is super helpful. I think I'll go with the magnesium glycinate for my dad (gonna check out Nature's Way like Ellen suggested) and maybe the Transparent Labs for my friend. Quinn - I hear you about seeing a doctor, but this is more of a 'thinking of you' gift than medical advice. Appreciate all the perspectives!
