THREAD: Magnesium Gummies giving me weird side effects - anyone else?Started by OP

Hey everyone, been taking magnesium gummies for about 2 weeks now (the brand with the orange flavor). They've been great for my muscle recovery, but I've noticed something odd - I'm having the most vivid, crazy dreams every night! Like full-on movie plots that I remember when I wake up. It's not bad or scary, just really intense. Has anyone else experienced this with magnesium gummies? Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Yo OP! Fellow gym rat here. I've been taking magnesium citrate gummies for like 6 months now. Totally get the dream thing! Happened to me too when I first started - I was dreaming about doing deadlifts with elephants or some wild stuff lol. My trainer said it's actually pretty common with magnesium supplements. It helps with nervous system regulation or something. As long as you're not getting cramps or digestive issues, you're probably good. What's your dosage? I take 400mg before bed.

Interesting observation, OP. From a biohacking perspective, magnesium plays a crucial role in GABA receptor function, which regulates sleep cycles. The vivid dreams are likely due to magnesium's effect on REM sleep modulation. I've tracked this myself with my Oura ring - my REM duration increased by 22% when I added 300mg magnesium glycinate gummies. Have you noticed any other changes? Sleep quality? Morning alertness? I'd recommend logging your symptoms for 2 more weeks. Also check if your gummies contain magnesium oxide - that form has lower bioavailability.

Keto believer checking in! I've been on magnesium gummies for my electrolyte balance since starting keto 2 years ago. I didn't get vivid dreams, but my pee turned neon yellow/bright when I first started! Freaked me out until I realized it was just the B vitamins in my gummies (I take a combo supplement). Are yours just magnesium or do they have other stuff in them? Also, make sure you're drinking enough water - keto taught me that hydration is everything with supplements. The dreams might calm down as your body adjusts!

Thanks everyone! @IvyIron - I'm taking 300mg, so maybe I'll stick with that dose. @HealthHacker497 - my sleep actually feels deeper, and I wake up less groggy. @PlantPat813 - mine are just magnesium glycinate according to the label, no B vitamins. Good to know I'm not alone with the weird side effects! I'll keep taking them since the muscle benefits are real. Appreciate all the input - this community rocks!
