Magnesium Gummies on sale at Costco – too good to be true?

Yo, just saw a huge bottle of magnesium gummies (500mg per serving) at Costco for like $12.99. Normally I pay double that at GNC. Is this a steal or are they cutting corners? I need my mag for recovery after WODs. Anyone tried these? Don't wanna waste my money if they're chalky or don't absorb.

From a med student perspective: magnesium is magnesium, but the form matters a lot. Check the label – is it oxide, citrate, glycinate? Oxide is cheap and poorly absorbed, can cause GI issues. Citrate is better. If it's oxide, that price makes sense. Also, gummies often have less elemental magnesium than pills. So you might need to eat a handful to get the dose. Don't just look at price, look at the actual magnesium content and form.

I've been using magnesium gummies from Target (smarty pants brand) and they work fine for me. But I always choose ones with natural flavors and no artificial colors. Costco usually has decent quality, but check for additives like corn syrup or titanium dioxide. Also, magnesium citrate is best for relaxation, glycinate for sleep. If it's a steal and the ingredients are clean, go for it! But I prefer making my own magnesium drink with powder – more cost-effective and no junk.

Thanks Quinn and Ellen. The label says magnesium citrate, 200mg per gummy. Serving size is 2 gummies. So 400mg per serving. That seems decent. But I'm worried about fillers. Anyone know if Costco's Kirkland brand is legit? I trust Kirkland for most stuff, but supplements can be iffy.

Kirkland is generally reputable and third-party tested. If it's citrate and 200mg per gummy, that's actually a good deal. Just be aware that citrate can have a laxative effect if you take too much. Start with one gummy and see how you feel. Also, gummies might have sugar or sugar alcohols, so if you're watching carbs, factor that in. But for $12.99, I'd say it's a steal. Just don't expect miracles – it's not a prescription.
