THREAD: My toddler thinks magnesium gummies are candy - hilarious/terrifying story!Started by OP

Okay so I need to share this before I lose my mind laughing/worrying. My 4-year-old found my magnesium gummies yesterday and thought they were 'special candy.' He ate THREE before I caught him! He was like 'Mommy these are the best gummies ever!' Thank god they're just supplements and not meds, but now he keeps asking for 'the orange candies' and I'm trying to explain they're vitamins. Anyone else deal with this? Also my husband REFUSES to take them because he says the texture is 'weird and chalky' - men, amirite?

OP that's wild! Honestly tho, this is why I stick to keto-friendly powders - no confusion with candy. But for real, you gotta lock those up! Kids are sneaky. Maybe try explaining they're 'grown-up gummies'? As for texture - yeah some brands are chalky af. I'd recommend checking the sugar content too, some have way too much for a keto lifestyle.

LOL my spouse did the same thing last week! I got these new magnesium gummies with a cool blister pack dispenser (so high-tech btw) and he ate half the pack thinking they were fancy gummies. Had to order more already 😂 For texture issues - have you tried the brand with the gel coating? Much smoother. Also there's an app that reminds you to take them, super handy!

Fascinating behavioral case study! The candy confusion makes sense - most gummy supplements use similar sensory cues to candy (color, shape, sweetness). Regarding texture: the 'chalky' feel often comes from magnesium oxide or carbonate forms. Citrate or glycinate versions in gummies tend to be smoother. Important note: 3 gummies for a 4-year-old likely exceeded safe magnesium levels - monitor for loose stools and consider calling poison control for dosage advice.
