THREAD: Started magnesium gummies for sleep, but wow - unexpected side effect!Started by OP

Hey everyone, I started taking magnesium gummies about 3 weeks ago because I was having trouble falling asleep. My doctor suggested it might help with relaxation. The sleep thing is working okay (I fall asleep faster but still wake up sometimes), but here's the weird part: my skin has cleared up SO much! I used to get these little breakouts on my chin and forehead, and they've basically disappeared. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not complaining at all, just curious if it's a known thing or just me!

OP, that's actually not as unusual as you might think! During my nursing years, we learned that magnesium plays a role in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body. One of them is regulating cortisol (stress hormone), and high cortisol can definitely cause skin issues. The gummies might be helping your body manage stress better, which shows up in your skin. What's the dosage you're taking? And are they citrate or glycinate? That matters for absorption.

Omg yes!! I teach yoga and recommend magnesium to students all the time for muscle recovery and calm. But several have mentioned skin improvements too! I think it's about overall inflammation reduction - magnesium is a natural anti-inflammatory. Our modern diets are often deficient. Combine the gummies with some deep breathing exercises and you might see even more benefits! Have you noticed any changes in your stress levels or digestion too?

Fascinating observation! There's actually some research supporting this. Magnesium deficiency is linked to increased inflammatory markers, and inflammation is a known contributor to various skin conditions. The gummies likely improved your magnesium status, reducing systemic inflammation. What's the elemental magnesium content per gummy? Many commercial gummies are underdosed. Also, have you changed anything else in your routine that could be confounding the results?

Dude, same thing happened to me! I started taking them for muscle cramps after heavy lifts (deadlifts destroy me lol). Sleep got better too, but my skin has never been clearer. I used to get random redness and now it's just... calm? My trainer said it's probably helping with recovery overall. Only downside is I want to eat the whole bottle cause they taste like candy haha. What brand are you using?
