Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a health pack or some melatonin gummies as a gift. One for my aging mom who has trouble sleeping, and maybe something for my fitness-obsessed friend who works out late. Any recommendations? I'm on a student budget so cheaper options are appreciated, but I want something that actually works. Thanks!

For your mom, I'd suggest checking the sugar content. A lot of gummies are loaded with sugar or corn syrup. Look for ones sweetened with stevia or monk fruit. I use the 'Sleep Well' brand from Costco, they're keto-friendly and my husband (who's 62) says they help him stay asleep. For your friend, maybe a combo of melatonin and L-theanine? That's what I take after a late workout. But watch out for artificial colors.

As a retired nurse, I always tell people to start with a low dose, especially for older adults. 1mg or 2mg is plenty for most seniors. My go-to is the 'Natrol' melatonin gummies, they come in 1mg, 3mg, 5mg, and 10mg. For your mom, get the 1mg or 3mg. For your friend, 5mg might be okay but remind them not to take it right after a workout if they're still wired. Also, check with a doctor if your mom takes other meds. Melatonin can interact with blood thinners and such.

I'm all about flavor, so I tried a bunch. The 'Olly' ones taste like candy but they're kinda pricey. If you're on a budget, the 'Vitafusion' melatonin gummies are cheap and work fine. I gave some to my dad (he's 70) and he said they helped him fall asleep faster. But he did complain about weird dreams, lol. For your fitness friend, maybe pair it with a magnesium supplement? That combo is popular in the gym crowd. Anyway, good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into Natrol and Vitafusion. The low-dose advice for my mom is super helpful. I didn't even think about interactions. I'll make sure she checks with her doctor. And the magnesium combo for my friend sounds smart. Appreciate it!
