THREAD: My melatonin gummies look weird - are they still safe to take?Started by OP

Hey everyone, hoping for some advice. I've been taking these melatonin gummies for sleep for about a month, but I just opened the bottle today and noticed they look different. Some have white spots on them (like sugar bloom maybe?), others feel kinda hard and a few are stuck together. They're not expired according to the date on the bottle. Has anyone else had this happen? Are they still safe to eat or should I toss them?

OP, first off - great that you're being observant! As an enthusiast who's tried dozens of supplements, I've seen this before. The white spots are likely sugar bloom from humidity changes, and hardening/sticking happens when gummies absorb moisture then dry out. While probably not dangerous, the melatonin potency might degrade. I'd recommend: 1) Check storage - keep in cool, dry place away from sunlight 2) Contact manufacturer - they might replace them 3) Consider switching to a brand with better stabilizers. Your health journey deserves quality products!

lol yeah my gummies do that all the time. I keep mine in my gym bag and by the end of the week they're usually stuck together in one big clump. I still eat them though - hasn't killed me yet! But if you're worried, just get a new bottle. They're not that expensive. I'm more concerned about getting my workout in than perfect gummies tbh.

This takes me back! Reminds me of when I'd find old fruit snacks in my backpack as a kid - always fused together in a colorful brick. While AlphaAdam has a point about practicality, I'd err on caution with supplements. Unlike childhood snacks, you're consuming these for specific benefits. The texture changes suggest storage issues that might affect the melatonin's effectiveness. Maybe try a silica gel packet in the bottle? That's what I do with my camera gear to control moisture. Stay curious, but stay safe!
