THREAD: Started melatonin gummies for sleep, but noticed something unexpected...Started by IvyIron895

Hey everyone, I started taking melatonin gummies about 3 weeks ago to help with my sleep (I'm 68 and have trouble staying asleep). The weird thing is, my sleep is only slightly better, but my skin looks amazing! My grandkids even commented that I look 'glowy.' Has anyone else experienced this? I'm using the Nature's Way brand, 3mg before bed.

Interesting observation, IvyIron895! As a retired nurse, I can tell you melatonin does have antioxidant properties that might benefit skin health. However, correlation doesn't equal causation - are you sleeping more consistently? Better rest can improve skin appearance. Also, check the ingredients list; some gummies contain vitamins like C or E that help skin. What's the full ingredient list on your bottle?

omg YES! I take melatonin gummies occasionally when my yoga schedule gets hectic and my mind won't shut off. I've totally noticed my stress levels are way lower the next day - like I can handle my 6am hot yoga class without wanting to scream lol. Maybe the better sleep quality reduces cortisol? My skin does feel clearer too now that you mention it!

WaterWillow233 - The bottle says it has melatonin, vitamin B6, and then just the gummy stuff (gelatin, sugar, etc.). No C or E vitamins. You might be right about the sleep though - I do feel more rested even if I'm not sleeping much longer. CitrusClaire - That's fascinating about stress! My arthritis pain seems a bit better too, which I didn't expect at all.

The B6 could be contributing - it helps with neurotransmitter production. But IvyIron895, please monitor your dosage. At your age, we need to be careful with supplements. 3mg is reasonable, but discuss with your doctor if you continue. The reduced arthritis pain might be from better sleep quality reducing inflammation. Fascinating how interconnected our systems are!
