Can I take my multivitamin gummies with coffee? Or does that cancel them out??
Hey everyone! So I just started taking these new multivitamin gummies (the ones from that brand with the cute bear shapes) and I'm wondering if it's okay to take them with my morning coffee. I usually have a cup right after my WOD and then take my gummies. But I heard that coffee can block nutrient absorption? Is that true? Should I wait? Also, I sometimes add a scoop of collagen to my coffee—would that interfere? Thanks!
Hey Olivia! Wellness influencer here (not a doctor, but I play one on the internet lol). From what I've researched, coffee can inhibit absorption of certain vitamins like iron and calcium, but it's not a huge deal unless you're taking mega-doses. The bigger issue is that caffeine can mess with your cortisol if you're already stressed. I'd say wait at least 30 mins after coffee to take your gummies. Also, collagen is fine, but it's just protein, so no interaction. But why not take them with food? Fat-soluble vitamins need fat to absorb better. Just my two cents!
I'm pretty new to this whole supplement thing, but I've been taking my gummies with my morning tea (I don't drink coffee) and I feel fine. Is tea the same as coffee? Also, does it matter if I take them on an empty stomach? I usually meditate first, then eat, then take them. Sorry if this is a dumb question, just trying to be healthy!
Okay, keto believer here. First off, check the label for sugar! Most gummies are loaded with it, which can kick you out of ketosis. But assuming you're not keto, the coffee thing is overblown. I've been taking my multis with black coffee for years and my bloodwork is fine. The only real concern is if you're taking iron separately—coffee definitely blocks that. But in a multi, it's usually low dose. Also, @SolarSam958, tea has tannins that can also block absorption, but again, not a big deal. Just be consistent and don't stress. And @OrganicOlivia254, if you're doing Crossfit, you might want to take them post-workout with a meal for better absorption. Just my opinion!
Thanks guys! I appreciate the tips. I think I'll try taking them with breakfast instead of just coffee. And GummyGuru, I checked—the gummies have 2g of sugar per serving, so not too bad. I'm not keto, so I'm good. Noah, I'll try waiting 30 mins. Sam, glad I'm not the only newbie! I'll report back if I notice any changes. Cheers!
