THREAD: DIY Multivitamin Gummies - My Batch Turned Into Goo! Help!Started by RhinoRich128

Hey everyone, so I'm trying to make my own multivitamin gummies while traveling in Bali. I mixed some gelatin with hot water, added my vitamin powder blend (C, D, zinc, etc.), and poured into molds. But instead of setting, it's just a sticky mess! Anyone have a foolproof recipe or know what I did wrong? Trying to save $$ and avoid lugging bottles around.

RhinoRich128, love the initiative! 💫 First, ditch the gelatin—it's so finicky with humidity (Bali's air is probably not helping). Switch to agar agar; it sets more reliably. Also, are you using oil-based vitamin powders? They can mess with the gelling. I mix my powders with a tiny bit of honey or maple syrup first to help dispersion. And always, ALWAYS do a small test batch! My fave recipe: 1 cup juice, 2 tbsp agar, heat slowly, then add pre-mixed vitamins. Pour and chill for 2 hours. Let me know if you need more deets!

RhinoRich128, GummyGuru430's agar tip is solid—gelatin denatures easily if overheated. What's your exact temp protocol? I biohack my gummies with nootropics and find that keeping the mix at 160°F max preserves potency. Also, consider your vitamin ratios: too much powder can inhibit gelling. I use a 5:1 liquid-to-powder ratio by weight. Failed batch? Freeze it and blend into smoothies—zero waste. #OptimizeEverything

Dude, I feel you! I tried making electrolyte gummies for marathon training last year and had the same goo issue. Turns out I was stirring too vigorously and incorporating air bubbles. Now I gently whisk and let the mix sit for a minute before pouring. Also, if you're using citrus-based vitamins, the acidity might be breaking down the gelatin. Maybe try a neutral base like coconut water? Good luck—when they work, homemade gummies are a game-changer for long runs!
