THREAD: My gummy vitamins changed color and got hard - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I opened my bottle of multivitamin gummies this morning and noticed they look different. Some have white spots on them (like sugar bloom maybe?) and they're all kinda hard and sticking together. They used to be soft and colorful. Are these still safe to take? I don't want to waste them but also don't want to eat something bad. Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh honey, that's definitely not good! As a mom, I'd never give those to my kids. The white spots are sugar bloom from moisture changes, and hardening means they're old or stored poorly. Check the expiration date! Even if they're 'safe,' the nutrients probably degraded. I only buy organic gummies in glass jars and store them in a cool, dark pantry. Toss them and invest in quality - your health is worth it!

OP, it's likely just moisture issues affecting texture, not safety. Hard gummies won't harm you, but they might not taste great. Sugar bloom is normal with temperature swings. That said, if you're taking these for fitness goals, degraded vitamins won't help your gains. I'd recommend switching to a sealed, climate-controlled brand. Personally, I use gummies post-workout but keep them in a dry gym bag. Check storage tips on the bottle!

lol this happened to my gummies after I left them in my car last weekend! They got all sticky and weird. I ate a couple anyway and was fine, just tasted a bit off. Probably not ideal but if you're in a pinch for your weekend hike or something, they won't kill you. Maybe break off the white bits? But yeah, Vince is right - store them better next time. I keep mine in the fridge now.

Simple answer: toss them. Why risk it? Gummies are already inefficient with fillers and sugars. If they're changing, the compounds are unstable. I switched to minimalist pill forms years ago - no texture issues, precise dosing, less waste. Not worth overthinking. Replace with a basic, reliable option.
