So I started taking NAC (600mg) about 3 weeks ago mainly to help with sleep. I read it can lower glutamate and help you chill out at night. And yeah, sleep is a bit better, but the weird thing is my skin looks amazing?? Like, I've had this stubborn patch of eczema on my arm for years and it's almost gone. Also my face just looks... brighter? I'm not complaining but I'm so confused. Is this a thing? Or am I just imagining it?

Med student here. NAC is a precursor to glutathione, which is a major antioxidant. It's not crazy that it could help with skin issues, especially if inflammation was a factor. There's some literature on NAC for OCD, trichotillomania, and even skin picking. But for eczema? Probably related to reduced oxidative stress. Not a doctor yet, but yeah, plausible. What brand are you using? Some have fillers that could also matter.

I take NAC for tendon health (tendinopathy). Didn't notice skin changes, but I'm a minimalist so I only take 500mg daily. Maybe you're just sleeping better and that's showing in your skin? Sleep is the best cosmetic. But hey, if it works, don't question it too much. Just make sure you're not overdoing it. I've read that too much NAC can thin mucus, so watch out if you get sick.

Dude, same! I started NAC for hangovers (lol) and my allergies improved. Like, I used to sneeze every morning and now nothing. I travel a lot so I thought it was just a change in environment, but it's been consistent. Maybe it's the anti-inflammatory effect. Also, my sleep tracker shows more deep sleep. Weird stuff. What dosage are you on, OP? I'm at 1000mg.

Thanks for the replies! I'm taking 600mg from NOW Foods. And yeah, maybe it's the sleep quality that's helping my skin. But the eczema patch is really the surprising part. I'll keep an eye on it. @FuelFrank273 that's interesting about allergies! Maybe NAC is just a multi-tool. I'll update if anything changes.
