THREAD: My toddler thinks my omega-3 gummies are candy! Help!Started by FloraFinn

OMG this just happened to me yesterday! I left my omega-3 gummies on the counter for like 2 minutes and my 4-year-old grabbed the bottle. He thought they were 'fishy candy' and ate THREE before I caught him! He said they tasted 'weird but good' lol. Now he keeps asking for more 'fish candy' and I'm worried he'll sneak them again. Anyone else deal with this? I'm on a tight budget as a student and can't afford to replace these constantly if he eats them all!

Honestly, this is exactly why I'm skeptical about gummy supplements. They're designed to look and taste like candy, especially to kids. Are you sure those omega-3s are even doing anything? Most studies on fish oil are pretty mixed. Maybe just skip them altogether - save your money and avoid the risk of your kid overdosing on vitamins (yes, that can happen!).

FloraFinn - First, make sure you store them up high in a locked cabinet! As a fitness pro, I rely on omega-3s for joint health and inflammation reduction. The gummy form is great for people who hate swallowing pills. For your kid, maybe try explaining they're 'grown-up vitamins'? Or mix a liquid omega-3 into a smoothie if texture is an issue. Quality matters though - don't buy the cheapest ones!

As a yoga instructor, I focus on mindful consumption. My husband REFUSES to take his omega-3s because he says the texture is 'slimy' even in gummy form! I've started adding ground flaxseed to his morning oatmeal instead - plant-based omega-3 alternative. For your little one, maybe create a special 'vitamin time' ritual? Make it calm and intentional rather than candy-like. Sending peaceful vibes your way!
