THREAD: My gummies look weird - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I opened my bottle of gummy vitamins today and noticed they've changed color - they're darker than usual and look kinda shiny/wet in spots. Some are stuck together and feel harder than normal. They're about 2 months old, stored in my kitchen cabinet. Are these still safe to take or should I toss them? Worried about wasting money but also don't want to get sick!

Oh honey, I've seen this with my kids' gummies too! That's usually sugar bloom or moisture issues. If they're just sticking together or have that white-ish coating, it's probably fine - just sugar crystallizing. But if they smell weird or have mold (fuzzy spots), definitely toss. I always store ours in the fridge now to prevent this. Nature's way of telling us to eat fresh! ๐ŸŒฟ

lol my pre-workout gummies do this all the time when I leave them in my gym bag. The heat makes them melt together into one mega-gummy blob ๐Ÿ˜‚. They're probably still safe if they're just changing texture, but if the color change is drastic (like brown instead of orange), might be oxidation. Check the expiration date! I'd still eat mine but I also drink expired protein shakes so maybe don't listen to me ๐Ÿ’ช

Are they sugar-free? Many keto gummies use sugar alcohols that can absorb moisture and get sticky/hard. If they're regular gummies with sugar, that crystallization Olivia mentioned is common. Either way, if they're not expired and no mold, they're likely safe chemically. But trust your senses - if they taste off, don't risk it. My rule: when in doubt, fast instead! ๐Ÿฅ‘

This happened with my melatonin gummies last month! I meditated on it (literally lol) and decided to contact the company. They said color changes can happen with temperature fluctuations but it doesn't affect safety. Maybe try reaching out to the manufacturer for peace of mind? Sending calm vibes your way โœจ P.S. I ended up using mine in smoothies instead!
