THREAD: My toddler thinks my gummy vitamins are candy - help!Started by OP

So I just started taking these gummy vitamin powders you mix into water, and my 4-year-old saw the jar and thought it was candy. He grabbed a scoop and tried to eat it dry before I could stop him! He made the funniest sour face and now refuses to even look at the jar. Anyone else have kids (or spouses!) who can't tell supplements from treats?

Oh honey, this is why I always recommend whole-food based supplements! Those synthetic powders can be confusing for little ones. Have you considered making your own gummies with gelatin and real fruit juice? Much safer and you control the ingredients. My grandkids love the ones I make - they know they're 'Nana's special treats' not candy.

See, this is exactly what I've been saying! These supplement companies make everything look and taste like candy. It's irresponsible. My wife bought some 'berry blast' powder that looks identical to those pixie stick things. I caught my nephew about to snort a line of it thinking it was candy. These things should come with child-proof warnings, not cartoon characters on the label.

LOL I feel this! Working nights, I keep my vitamin powders in those little single-serve packets. My husband thought they were emergency drink mixes and put one in his coffee last week. Let's just say 'tropical sunrise' flavor does NOT go with French roast. Now he double-checks everything in our pantry. Maybe try putting yours in a clearly labeled container?

Thanks everyone! @DewyDaphne that coffee story made me laugh - I'll definitely try better labeling. @VitalVince388 you're right about the packaging being misleading. @TeaTina983 homemade gummies sound nice but honestly who has time? Maybe I'll just switch to pills when these run out. Kid still won't go near the kitchen cabinet though!
