THREAD: Are prenatal gummies just glorified candy? Sugar content rant!Started by YogaYara287

Ugh, I just looked at the label on my prenatal gummies and there's like 5g of sugar per serving! Isn't that defeating the purpose? I get they're supposed to be easy to take, but why are we turning supplements into candy? I'm starting to think I should just go back to pills or make my own blends. Anyone else bothered by this?

Totally agree, Yara! I switched to DIY gummies last year and it's been a game-changer. I use organic fruit puree and a touch of honey instead of all that processed sugar. It's a bit more work, but at least I know exactly what's in them. Plus, you can customize the vitamins based on what your body needs. Highly recommend giving it a try!

As a mom of two, I get the convenience argument, but sugar in supplements is a hard no for me. We avoid added sugars at home, so why would I give my body something I wouldn't give my kids? I stick with whole food-based prenatal vitamins. They might not taste like candy, but they're pure and effective. The 'candy-fication' trend worries me—it normalizes sugar in places it doesn't belong.

I hear you all, but as someone who works 60-hour weeks, gummies are a lifesaver. I used to forget my pills constantly, but these I actually remember to take. Yeah, the sugar isn't ideal, but it's a trade-off for consistency. Maybe look for brands with lower sugar options? Or mix in some healthier habits to balance it out. Convenience matters when you're juggling a busy life.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Jenny, I might take you up on that DIY idea—sounds fun and healthier. Mila, you're right about the normalization thing, it's sneaky. And FitnessFanatic, I get the busy life struggle, maybe there's a middle ground. Still think companies could do better with less sugar though. Appreciate the chat!
