THREAD: Started prenatal gummies for sleep but WOW unexpected side effect!Started by HealthHacker497

OP here! So I've been tracking my sleep cycles with my Oura ring and decided to try prenatal gummies after reading about their folate and iron content potentially helping with rest. Been taking them for 2 weeks now - sleep is maybe slightly better? But my skin is GLOWING. Like, people at work are asking what I'm using. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's the biotin or vitamin E in these particular ones (I'm using the Nature's Way brand).

lol I tried those once but couldn't get past the chalky aftertaste! The ones I had tasted like sweetened vitamins. But yeah my wife took prenatals during her pregnancy and her hair and nails were insane. Have you checked if there's collagen in yours? Sometimes that combo does wonders for skin. Also - are they actually tasty or do you just power through?

Careful with those! Most prenatal gummies are loaded with sugar and carbs. I checked the label on my sister's once - 5g of sugar per serving! That'll kick you out of ketosis fast. But if you're not keto, I guess the vitamin boost could explain the skin thing. Maybe it's fixing a deficiency you didn't know you had?

OMG same thing happened to me! I started taking the SmartyPants prenatal gummies last month because I was constantly exhausted between work and my toddler. Sleep is still hit or miss (thanks, 3am emails), but my skin hasn't looked this good since college. And they're so easy - just grab two from the bottle on my way out the door. No water needed like with pills. Has it helped your stress levels at all? I feel slightly less frazzled but can't tell if it's placebo.

Mike - these are actually pretty decent! Orange flavor with no aftertaste. Rose - good call on checking sugars, these have 3g per serving which isn't terrible for a gummy. Mila - YES on stress! I track my HRV and it's improved 12% since starting. I'm thinking the B-vitamin complex might be helping adrenal function. Might run a micronutrient panel to see what's actually shifting. Anyone know if men should be cautious with prenatals long-term? I'm obviously not pregnant lol
