THREAD: Can I take probiotic gummies with my morning coffee?Started by OP

Hey everyone, newbie here! I've been taking probiotic gummies for about a month now (the berry-flavored ones from the health store). I usually have them with my morning coffee. Is that okay? Or should I space them out? I've heard probiotics can be sensitive to heat/acid. Thanks!

Hi OP! Retired nurse here. Good question. Probiotics are live bacteria, and coffee is acidic and hot—both can reduce their effectiveness. I'd recommend taking the gummies at least 30 minutes before or after your coffee, preferably with a meal to buffer the stomach acid. Also, check the label for storage instructions; heat can degrade them even before consumption. Stay safe!

WaterWillow's advice is spot on! As a fitness pro, I always tell my clients to pair probiotics with breakfast, but skip the coffee right after. Maybe have your gummies with oatmeal or yogurt instead? Also, if you're taking other supplements (like iron or calcium), space those out too—they can interfere. Keep it balanced!

Marathon runner here—I've totally been there! I used to take my probiotic gummies with coffee and wondered why my gut felt off during long runs. Switched to taking them with my post-run smoothie (room temp), and it made a huge difference. Maybe try a different time of day? Also, hydration helps the probiotics work better, so drink plenty of water!

Amateur chef chiming in! If you're into food pairings, think of probiotics like delicate herbs—they don't play well with extreme temps or strong flavors. I'd avoid coffee altogether when taking them. Instead, try a small snack like a banana or whole-grain toast. Or get creative and mix crushed gummies into a cool parfait (after checking if that's safe, of course!).
