THREAD: Looking for probiotic gummy recommendations - gift for aging parent or fitness friend?Started by OP

Hey everyone! I'm trying to find some good probiotic gummies as a gift - either for my mom (she's in her late 60s) or my buddy who's super into fitness and gut health. Looking for something that actually works, not just candy. Any suggestions? Budget is flexible but don't wanna break the bank. Thanks!

Interesting query! Based on my research, you'll want different strains for different purposes. For aging parents, look for Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG or Bifidobacterium lactis - studies show they support immune function and digestion in older adults. For fitness enthusiasts, Saccharomyces boulardii might be beneficial for gut barrier integrity during intense training. I'd recommend checking the CFU count (colony forming units) - aim for at least 1-5 billion per serving. Brands like Culturelle and Renew Life have good transparency about their strains.

omg i love this! i actually give my mom probiotic gummies every month :) For aging parents, I'd say go with something gentle - my mom had issues with some brands being too strong. I use the Garden of Life ones for her, they have prebiotics too which helps. For your fitness friend, maybe something with added vitamins? I've seen some with B12 which is great for energy. Also check if they need refrigeration - some do, some don't, which matters for gifting! namaste ๐

haha i actually tried making my own probiotic gummies once - disaster! turned into weird jelly blobs ๐ For store-bought, I'd say taste matters for gifts! Some brands are way too tart or have that 'health food' aftertaste. The Olly ones taste pretty good - like actual gummies. For your mom, maybe the strawberry flavor? For fitness friend, they have a mango one that's not too sweet. Just make sure they're taking them consistently - probiotics work best when taken regularly, not just occasionally!

Wow thanks everyone! This is super helpful. EarthElias - gonna look up those strain names. CitrusClaire - good point about refrigeration, didn't think of that! BerryBen - lol at your homemade attempt, might stick to store-bought ๐ Think I'll get the Garden of Life for mom and maybe try Olly for my friend. Appreciate the help!
