THREAD: New study on probiotic strains in gummies - legit science or marketing hype?Started by CrystalCathy502

Hey everyone, just came across this study (PMID: 12345678) about Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in gummy form. The researchers claim it survives stomach acid better than capsules when combined with certain prebiotic fibers. But I noticed the study was funded by a supplement company. What do you all think - solid science or biased results? I'm skeptical about the funding source tbh.

Omg Cathy you're always finding the deep stuff! I actually tried those exact gummies last month during my gut reset protocol. My bloating went down like 70% but now I'm wondering if it was placebo? The study timing seems sus with that new brand launch. Still, if it works for people's wellness journeys, maybe the science doesn't need to be perfect? #listenToYourBody

lol i dont have time to read studies between WODs but i take probiotic gummies every morning with my pre-workout. If they help me not get the runs during heavy metcons, im sold. Are there any crossfit athletes in the study? That would make it more legit for me. My box swears by the brand with B. coagulans for recovery.

As someone who works nights, my gut is ALWAYS messed up from weird eating schedules. I tried those gummies but didn't notice much difference? Maybe because I take them at 3am? The study should control for shift workers tbh. Also, did they test with coffee? Because my night shift runs on caffeine and that probably kills any probiotics anyway 😅

Great points everyone! Uma - no athletes in this study, it was all sedentary office workers (another red flag!). Olivia - you're right about circadian rhythm effects, there's actually a 2022 study about that. I'm digging deeper into the methodology - the control group was tiny (only 15 people!) and they measured 'gut comfort' with subjective surveys. Starting to look like marketing dressed as science. Always check sample sizes and measurement methods!
