THREAD: Traveling with Shilajit Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Rules?Started by QuantumQuincy47

Hey all, heading on a trip next week - mix of flying and hiking. I've been taking Shilajit gummies daily for energy and adaptogen support. Worried they might melt in my bag during travel or get confiscated by TSA. Anyone have experience with this? Are they considered liquids/gels? Storage tips for keeping them stable in varying temps would be awesome!

OP, I travel full-time with my shilajit gummies! Flown domestic and international with them in my carry-on multiple times. TSA hasn't batted an eye - they're just gummy supplements, not liquid. But YES they can get soft/melty if left in a hot car or direct sun. I use a small insulated lunch bag with an ice pack if I'm going to be in heat for hours. On planes, just keep them in your carry-on, not checked luggage where temps fluctuate more.

As a fitness pro who travels to competitions, I always pack my supps in original containers with labels visible - avoids TSA questions. Shilajit gummies have a higher melting point than regular gummies due to the resin base, but they'll still get sticky above 85°F. Pro tip: if hiking, wrap the bottle in a bandana or put in a ziplock inside your pack's cooler pocket. And hydrate extra when taking adaptogens on trips!

lol I feel this - I travel with caffeine gummies and shilajit ones for that double energy boost. Road trip pro tip: don't leave them in the glove box! Mine turned into a sticky mess in Arizona heat. Now I use a small thermos in the cup holder. Flying? Never had TSA stop me, but I keep them with my other vitamins in a clear pouch. Quick question: does altitude affect them? Flying to Denver next month.

Thanks everyone! Great tips. Nancy, the insulated bag idea is smart. VibeVitamins, good call on original containers - I was going to use a pill organizer but will keep them labeled. RootRose893, altitude shouldn't affect the gummies chemically, but cabin pressure might make the container puff a bit - just burp it after landing. Appreciate the help - feeling more confident about traveling with these now!
