THREAD: My gummy vitamins look weird - are they still safe to take?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I've been taking these gummy multivitamins for about a month now, but I just opened the bottle today and noticed they look different. Some of them have turned a darker color, and they feel harder than usual. A few are even sticking together. They're not expired yet, but I'm worried they might have gone bad. Has anyone else experienced this? Are they still safe to eat?

Hi OP! I've seen this happen before with some of my supplements. As a yoga instructor, I'm all about listening to your body's intuition. If something feels off, it probably is. The color change and hardening could be due to exposure to heat or humidity - do you store them in a cool, dry place? I'd recommend checking the ingredients for any natural preservatives. Sometimes, when they use less synthetic stuff, they can be more prone to texture changes. Personally, I'd err on the side of caution and maybe get a new bottle. Your health is worth it! Namaste.

Ugh, this is why I'm so passionate about eco-friendly packaging! Those plastic bottles often don't seal properly, letting in moisture and air. The sticking together is probably sugar bloom - it happens when the sugars crystallize on the surface. It's not necessarily unsafe, but it does affect the quality. I'd check if the brand uses organic ingredients; sometimes they skip harsh preservatives, which is great for the planet but can lead to these issues. Maybe try storing them with a silica gel packet? But honestly, if they're hard and discolored, I'd compost them and look for a brand with better packaging. #ReduceWaste but also #StaySafe!

In my experience, traditional supplements rarely had these problems because they used simpler, time-tested methods. Modern gummies with all their additives and colors can be unpredictable. The hardening might mean they're drying out, which could reduce their potency. I'd say if they're significantly different from when you bought them, it's best not to risk it. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? They might have insights or even offer a replacement. In the meantime, consider switching to a more reliable, classic form like capsules or tablets - they tend to be more stable. Better safe than sorry!
