THREAD: Just saw this study on Vitamin C gummies - legit or marketing hype?Started by LunarLily

Hey everyone! I was browsing PubMed earlier and came across this study (PMID: 12345678) about ascorbic acid absorption from gummy supplements vs. tablets. It claims gummies have 30% better bioavailability because of the gelatin matrix. Sounds almost too good to be true? Has anyone else read this or tried comparing? I'm new to supplements and trying to be mindful about what I put in my body during my meditation practice.

Interesting find Lily! As a keto believer, I'm always skeptical of gummies since they usually have sugar or maltitol syrup - which can kick you out of ketosis. Did the study mention the carb content? Sometimes these studies are funded by supplement companies pushing their products. I stick with capsule vitamin C from rose hips, but curious what others think!

Working remotely from Bali right now and dealing with spotty wifi, but had to chime in! I've been taking Vit C gummies for 2 years while traveling - easier than pills when you're constantly moving. That study sounds plausible though? The gelatin could help with slow release. But Pat has a point about funding bias. Maybe check if it was industry-sponsored in the disclosures. Also - any digital nomads here have brand recommendations that don't melt in hot climates? lol

Amateur chef here - I actually make my own gummy vitamins sometimes! The science makes sense to me. Gelatin helps emulsify fats and could improve absorption. But 30% seems high... might be statistical noise. Have you checked the sample size? Small studies can overstate effects. Personally I get my C from bell peppers in cooking, but for supplements I'd want to see more independent research first.
