THREAD: My toddler thinks vitamin C gummies are candy - hilarious and concerning!Started by OP

Hey everyone, need to share this funny but kinda worrying story. My 4-year-old found my bottle of vitamin C gummies and thought they were candy. He ate like 5 before I caught him! He kept saying 'more candy mommy!' and now he's asking for them every day. On the flip side, my husband REFUSES to take them because he says the texture is 'weird and slimy.' Anyone else dealing with family members treating supplements like treats or being picky about texture?

OP, that's actually a common issue! The sugar coating and flavors make them appealing, but overdosing on vitamin C can cause digestive upset. For your toddler, I'd recommend switching to a sugar-free chewable tablet or liquid form with a child-safe cap. For your husband, texture sensitivity is real - try a different brand with a firmer gel or look into powdered vitamin C you can mix into drinks. Always check the RDA percentages!

LOL my kid did the same thing last month! I started making my own gummies at home using natural fruit juice and gelatin with a measured vitamin C powder. They come out less sweet and more 'healthy tasting' so my kids don't binge them. For texture haters, maybe try freezing them? They get a different mouthfeel. Or mix the powder into a smoothie - hides everything!

This is why I stick to whole foods. An orange a day provides natural vitamin C without the sugar or choking hazard. These processed gummies are creating bad habits. Teach your children real nutrition, not candy disguised as supplements. For your husband, a glass of fresh-squeezed OJ is far superior to any gelatin concoction.

Thanks everyone! HealthHacker840 - good point about overdosing, I moved them to a high cabinet. BerryBen587 - homemade gummies sound fun, might try that! KaleKen20 - we do eat oranges too, but sometimes need the boost during cold season. Appreciate all the perspectives!
