THREAD: Traveling with Vitamin C Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Rules?Started by OrangeOscar451

Hey everyone! I'm planning a family road trip to the mountains next week and I want to bring our daily vitamin C gummies for me and the kids. Worried they might melt in the car or during hikes. Also, has anyone flown with them? Are there TSA issues since they're supplements? Looking for storage tips too - we'll be camping part of the time. Thanks!

Great question! I travel a lot for cooking workshops. Vitamin C gummies can definitely get sticky in heat. I once left some in my car during a summer market day - came back to a gooey mess! For road trips, keep them in the cooler or insulated lunch bag. For TSA: I've flown with gummies multiple times without issues since they're not liquids. Just keep them in original packaging to be safe. Pro tip: portion them into small containers if you're worried about melting during hikes!

Busy pro here who travels weekly. TSA has never stopped my gummies - they're considered solid food. The real issue is heat. On planes, keep them in your carry-on (overhead bins get hot). For road trips, don't leave them in direct sunlight. I use a small thermal pouch when hiking. Also, check expiration dates - heat can degrade vitamin C faster. Quick and efficient: store with your snacks, not in the glove compartment!

Paleo perspective here! While I prefer whole foods for vitamin C, I get the convenience for travel. Definitely avoid heat - gummies turn into syrup. For camping, keep them with your perishables in the cooler. TSA-wise, no problems but I'd recommend natural brands without artificial colors if you're crossing borders (some countries have stricter supplement rules). Also, consider dark glass containers if you're hiking in sun - protects potency better than plastic!
