Weird side effect from Vitamin C gummies? Anyone else?

Hey all, I started taking these new Vitamin C gummies (500mg, 2 gummies daily) about a week ago and I've noticed something odd: my taste buds seem off. Everything tastes a bit metallic or just... weird. Not sick, just strange. I'm pretty in tune with my body (yoga instructor here), so I'm wondering if it's the gummies or something else. Anyone else experienced this? Also, my pee is like neon yellow, but I heard that's normal with vitamin C? Thanks!

Yo Holly! Welcome to the club lol. I've been taking vitamin C gummies for months and yeah, the bright pee is totally normal. It's just your body flushing out the excess. As for the metallic taste, I haven't had that, but I did have some crazy vivid dreams when I first started. Like, woke up confused kind of dreams. It went away after a couple weeks. Maybe your body is just adjusting? What brand are you using? Some have added ingredients that might cause that.

I'm a marathon runner and I pop vitamin C gummies like candy during training season. Never had the metallic taste, but I did notice my sweat smelled different for a bit? Or maybe that was just me. Anyway, the neon pee is 100% normal, especially if they have riboflavin or whatever. Don't stress. If the taste thing bugs you, try taking them with food or switching brands. Could also be a zinc deficiency? Just a thought. Hydrate!

Thanks Ben and Rich! Good to know I'm not alone. I'm taking the 'SunnyVite' brand, the ones with added rose hips. Maybe that's it? I'll try taking them with breakfast and see if that helps. And yeah, the dreams – I forgot to mention, I've been having super vivid ones too! Last night I dreamt I was teaching yoga on the moon. Wild. Glad it's not just me. I'll update if the metallic taste goes away.

Haha moon yoga! Love it. Rose hips can be a bit tart, maybe that's the metallic thing? Or maybe it's just the ascorbic acid. I'd give it another week. If it persists, maybe try a different form like liposomal. But honestly, if it's harmless, just roll with it. Keep us posted! 🌙
