THREAD: Looking for Vitamin D Gummy Recommendations for Gifts - Aging Parent & Fitness FriendStarted by NectarNina306

Hey everyone! I'm trying to find some good vitamin D gummies to give as gifts. My dad is in his 70s and doesn't get outside much, and my friend is super into fitness but works in an office all day. Looking for something that's effective but also tastes decent since they're gifts. Any suggestions? I've seen so many brands online and it's overwhelming!

Ooh, love this! For your dad, I'd recommend looking for gummies with added K2 - it helps direct the calcium properly. Nature's Way or Garden of Life have some good options. For your fitness friend, maybe something with a higher dose? But check if they're already taking other supplements. Always go for organic if possible, and avoid those with artificial colors. The body absorbs natural sources better energetically!

As someone who works nights, I feel this! Vitamin D deficiency is real when you don't see sunlight. I take a 5000 IU gummy from Nordic Naturals - it's helped my energy levels. For an aging parent, maybe start with 1000-2000 IU unless their doctor says otherwise. The citrus flavors tend to mask any vitamin taste better than berry ones IMO.

Thanks both! Tina, I hadn't thought about the K2 combo - that makes sense for bone health. Holly, the dosage tip is helpful. Do either of you know if there's a big difference between D2 and D3 in gummies? I remember reading D3 is better absorbed but not sure if it matters in gummy form.

Great question! D3 (cholecalciferol) is definitely the way to go - it's what our skin makes from sunlight. D2 is from plants and doesn't work as well in the body. Most quality brands use D3 now. Also, look for ones with healthy fats in the ingredients (like coconut oil) since vitamin D is fat-soluble! Your gifts will be much appreciated - such a thoughtful idea
