THREAD: Vitamin D Gummies - Are we taking too much? New article on dosage limitsStarted by OP

Hey everyone, just came across this article and thought it was super relevant for our gummy vitamin discussions! # Are you taking supplements correctly? Here’s a guide on their dosage limits A recent report highlights a crucial, yet often overlooked, aspect of the booming supplement industry: the importance of following proper dosage guidelines, especially with fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamin D that can build up in your system. The article mentions that many people double-dose or take extra "just in case" without realizing potential risks. What do you all think? Are we being careful enough with our Vitamin D gummies? I know I sometimes take an extra one on cloudy days...

As a marathon runner who trains outdoors year-round, this hits home! I've been taking 5000 IU Vitamin D gummies daily for years to compensate for all the sunscreen I wear. My doc actually tested my levels last month and said I was borderline high - not dangerous but worth monitoring. The article's right about that "more is better" mentality. Maybe we should all get tested before upping doses? I'm cutting back to 2000 IU and retesting in 3 months. Anyone else get their levels checked recently?

Night shift worker here - Vitamin D gummies are LIFESAVERS for me since I barely see sunlight during winter months. But yeah, this article makes sense. I was taking 2 gummies (4000 IU total) daily until my holistic practitioner warned me about Vitamin D toxicity symptoms like nausea and weakness. Now I do 1 gummy (2000 IU) most days, skip on weekends when I can get outside. The gummy form makes it so easy to overdo it though! They're like candy. What brands are you all using? Mine has 2000 IU per piece.

DIY enthusiast checking in! I actually make my own vitamin D gummies sometimes (with cod liver oil base - not the tastiest lol). This article is why I'm careful with measurements. Most commercial gummies have standardized doses, but when you DIY, you REALLY need to calculate properly. Pro tip: Use a kitchen scale for oil-based vitamins! Also, pairing with Vitamin K2 helps with absorption and reduces buildup risks. Anyone else into homemade supplements? We could share recipes with precise dosing!

@JuiceJenny217 That's hardcore making your own! Respect. I'll stick to store-bought with clear labels lol. @HolisticHolly715 I use the Nature's Way 2000 IU ones - they have K2 included which the article didn't mention but is important! Quick question for everyone: Do you take your Vitamin D gummies with food? The article said fat helps absorption, so I take mine with my post-run smoothie (has almond butter). Morning or night better?
