THREAD: Mixing Luna Kids Sleep Gummies with other stuff - safe or risky?Started by OP

Hey all, my 8-year-old has been using Nested Naturals Luna Kids Sleep Gummies for a few weeks now to help with bedtime. They work pretty well! But I’m wondering if it’s okay to give them alongside her daily multivitamin gummy (SmartyPants Kids Complete). She takes the multivitamin in the morning. Is there any risk of overdoing melatonin or interactions? Anyone tried this combo?

As a mom, I’d be super cautious. Melatonin isn’t something to play around with, even if it’s ‘non-habit forming.’ I checked the labels—Luna has 1mg melatonin per gummy, and SmartyPants doesn’t have melatonin, but it does have other vitamins and herbs. I’d worry about cumulative effects or her body getting confused with timing. Maybe space them out by 12 hours? Or skip the multivitamin on nights she uses the sleep gummy? Always ask your pediatrician, tbh.

Honestly, why are we giving kids supplements at all? These gummies are just expensive candy with a fancy label. Melatonin, valerian, chamomile—sure, they might help, but there’s barely any long-term safety data for kids. Combining it with another gummy? You’re basically doing an uncontrolled experiment on your child. Stick to a bedtime routine, limit screens, and save your money.

I’ve mixed similar sleep aids with other supplements for my niece! Not exactly these brands, but I blended a melatonin gummy with a little magnesium powder in her tea once—worked like a charm. For your case, since SmartyPants has no melatonin, it’s probably fine if you keep the sleep gummy at night and the multi in the AM. But watch for drowsiness during the day if the melatonin lingers. Maybe try half a sleep gummy first to test?

Forget the safety for a sec—are these gummies even eco-friendly? Nested Naturals claims ‘vegan,’ but what about the packaging? All those plastic bottles! And mixing supplements just means more consumption. Teach your kid about natural sleep cycles through outdoor play and reducing artificial lights. The planet doesn’t need more supplement bottles in landfills, and kids don’t need a cocktail of gummies to sleep.
