Hey everyone, just came across this study (PMID: 12345678) about melatonin supplements. It suggests that doses above 3mg might not be more effective for sleep onset and could cause next-day grogginess in some people. The OLLY gummies have 5mg. What do you all think - is this study legit or is it biased? I'm a retired nurse and I've seen melatonin work wonders for patients, but always at lower doses. Curious about your experiences.

OMG as a sleep-deprived parent of a toddler who wakes up 3x a night, I LIVE for these gummies! I've been taking the OLLY ones for about 2 months now. The 5mg definitely knocks me out faster than the 3mg store brand I tried before. But yeah, sometimes I do feel a bit foggy in the morning if I take it too late. The study might have a point about timing? I just need something that works, biased or not lol. The blackberry flavor is amazing tho.

Interesting! I read that study too. The methodology looks solid - randomized double-blind placebo-controlled with 200 participants. But here's the thing: they only tested immediate-release melatonin tablets. Gummies like OLLY have different absorption rates due to the gelatin and sugars. Plus, OLLY combines it with L-Theanine and botanicals which might change the pharmacokinetics. The chamomile and lemon balm extracts have their own mild sedative effects. So applying that study directly to gummies might be oversimplifying. Always check funding sources though - who paid for the research?

Good point about the absorption differences, HealthHacker840. In my nursing experience, we always considered formulation when comparing studies to actual products. GlowGigi, you might try taking it exactly 30 minutes before bed instead of right at bedtime - that helped my patients with morning grogginess. Also, the L-Theanine in OLLY should theoretically reduce that foggy feeling since it promotes relaxation without sedation. Anyone else notice if the other ingredients make a difference compared to plain melatonin?

Wait 30 mins before?? I've been popping them as I'm crawling into bed! No wonder I'm sometimes zombie-mom in the AM. Def trying that tonight. And yeah, these do feel different than just melatonin - more like a calm drift to sleep rather than being knocked out. My husband takes just melatonin pills and he says they don't work as well for him. Maybe the combo is key? Should we be looking at studies on the other ingredients too?
