THREAD: Anyone else having weird side effects from OLLY Kids Multivitamins?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I started giving my 6-year-old the OLLY Kids Multivitamin & Probiotic gummies about a week ago (the berry flavor ones). He loves them, but I've noticed something odd - his pee has been BRIGHT yellow, almost neon! It's not painful or anything, and he seems fine otherwise, but it's definitely noticeable. Has anyone else experienced this with their kids? Should I be worried?

OMG YES! My 4-year-old had the same thing when we started these last month. I freaked out at first and called the pediatrician at 2am (because of course I noticed during a midnight bathroom trip when I'm already sleep-deprived). Doc said it's totally normal - something about excess riboflavin (B2) being excreted. It's harmless, just looks alarming. The gummies have been great for my kid's digestion though, so we kept using them. The bright pee faded after a couple weeks.

BioBob is correct! I researched this extensively when my niece had the same reaction. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is water-soluble and any excess is excreted through urine, causing bright yellow coloration. The OLLY formula contains 1.7mg of riboflavin per serving (170% DV for kids 4-8). It's completely harmless and actually indicates the vitamins are being absorbed properly. If you're concerned about dosage, the 35-day supply suggests 2 gummies daily - are you following that? Some parents accidentally overdo it because the kids like the taste.

lol the bright pee thing happened to me too when I tried one! (Don't judge, I was curious about the berry flavor - it's actually pretty good, not too sweet). But seriously, as Holly said, it's just the B vitamins. More importantly - has anyone else noticed these make everything taste different afterward? I had one before my morning coffee and my espresso tasted weirdly metallic for hours. Might be the zinc?

BerryBen you're not alone on the taste thing! I sneak one sometimes when my kid's stash is low and I need a vitamin boost (caffeine addict probs). The zinc DEF changes how coffee tastes - makes it more bitter for me. But back to OP's question: bright urine = normal. My 8yo had it for like 10 days then it stopped. Pediatrician said as long as there's no pain or fever, it's just the vitamins doing their thing. These gummies are clutch for getting vitamins into picky eaters tho!
