THREAD: Just read a new study about melatonin - does this affect OLLY Sleep Gummies?Started by OP

Hey everyone, just saw this article about a recent study on melatonin supplements (PMID: 12345678). It says some brands have way more or less melatonin than labeled, and there might be interactions with other meds. I've been giving my kid OLLY Sleep Gummies occasionally when she's restless - the 3mg melatonin ones with L-Theanine and chamomile. Should I be worried? Is this study legit or just biased against supplements?

OMG as a granola parent this TOTALLY resonates. I stopped using OLLY for my family last year after reading similar stuff. We switched to magnesium spray and lavender pillow mists - way more natural! The study sounds legit to me... big pharma might fund some bias but when multiple sources say the same thing? Trust your mama gut. Plus, those gummies have 'natural flavors' which could mean anything.

Hold up - let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I've been taking these gummies for 6 months as part of my #SleepOptimization protocol. That study has limitations - small sample size probably. OLLY is a reputable brand. The 3mg dose is conservative (some studies use 5-10mg!). The L-Theanine + chamomile combo is gold for GABA support. Do your own research folks, don't just read headlines!

This takes me back to when we just drank warm milk for sleep! But seriously, I remember when melatonin first became popular in the 90s - it was all the rage in the alternative health circles I wrote about. The new study might have merit, but OLLY seems more transparent than those random brands. Still, I'd check if your kid really needs it every time. Sometimes old-school routines work better than gummies.

Med student here - we actually discussed this study in pharmacology. The methodology seems sound, but it's about inconsistent dosing across brands generally, not OLLY specifically. The 3mg dose is appropriate for occasional use in adults, but children's systems are different. Chamomile/lemon balm are generally safe. My advice: consult your pediatrician, especially if your child takes other medications. Don't rely solely on forum advice for medical decisions!
